Scroll down for the Step-by-Step Guide on how to send a payment link for a Reservation
KEY TERMS & TIPS:
What is a Reservation Payment Link?
It is a link that you can send directly to your customers and they can pay themselves for their reserved order.
The link will take them directly to the checkout page on your booking flow and they simply have to enter their payment and (if necessary) contact details.
How do I create a Reservation Payment Link?
Either on the Box Office payment page when you first create a Reservation or on the Order page once you've saved it.
You just need to choose an expiry and an Online Purchase Flow in order to generate a URL link.
You can also use a specific Purchase Channel if you wish - you just need to make sure this Channel has access to the correct Event, Delivery Method and Payment Method.
What is a Purchase Flow?
A booking flow that you can use to sell tickets on Line-Up. You will need one for your Online Checkout so the customer can use this to pay for their Reservation.
This Purchase Flow must also have a default Channel added to it in order to create a link.
See here for more info about Purchase Flows.
How do I send a Payment Link to a customer?
A booking flow that you can use to sell tickets on Line-Up. You will need one for your Online Checkout so the customer can use this to pay for their Reservation.
There are three options:
- You can copy and paste the link that is generated on the Order page and send it to the customer directly.
- Automatically send with a Reservation Delivery Method when creating the Reservation. Add Payment Link Merge Tags to your Email Templates so that the customer can click the link when they receive the emails that are attached to your Delivery Method. See here for more info about Delivery Methods
- Use the Email Order button on the Order page to send manually with the correct Email Template/Delivery Method.
For full instructions, see step 3 in our Step-by-Step Guide below.
What Merge Tags can I use in my emails for Payment Links?
You can use the following that will ensure that the link is included in the customer's email:
{{ TRANSACTION.PAYMENT_LINK }}
If the Reservation has an expiry date and time, then you can include the following if statement so that the customer knows when they have to pay by:
{% if TRANSACTION.EXPIRES_AT %}
{{ TRANSACTION.EXPIRES_AT.strftime('%a %d %b %Y %H:%M') }}
{% endif %}
For more info about Merge Tags, see here.
