KEY TERMS & TIPS:
What is Basket Validation?
It is a way of setting rules/limitations for your tickets.
This will limit the circumstances in which a ticket can be bought, e.g. setting a minimum and/or maximum of the number of ticket types in a basket, restricting an access ticket to a certain customer tag, etc.
You can also set a Single Seat Basket Validation Rule on your venue plan.
Go here for more info about how to set up Basket Validation rules on your Price Table.
What is a Single Seat rule?
It is a Basket Validation rule that states that the basket must not leave single seats unsold by themselves.
This is for Reserved Seating venue plans only.
How do I set this rule?
Via the Venue Plans page.
See our Step-by-Step guide below for more info.
STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE:
1. Create Basket Validation rule on a Venue Plan
a) Go to the Venues page and then click the Venue Plans tab
b) On the Venue Plan list, click the 3 dots to the right of the plan you want to create the rule for and select Basket Validation from the dropdown
2. Add Details
a) Name - for internal use, e.g. Single Seat
b) Description - for internal use, e.g. Single seat rule for Macbeth
c) Error Message - this is the message that will appear in the purchase flow when a seat is left by itself, e.g. Please select another seat
NOTE - you can use the {seat_labels} tag if you wanted to specify the seat that will be left by itself if the user doesn't select it.
For example, if the error message you set is:
Your basket will leave {seat_labels} as a single seat.
This will appear in the booking flow as:
Your basket will leave M57 on Sunday 22 September 2024 at 02:30 PM as a single seat.
3. Add Rule
a) Select the Basket must not leave single seats rule from the dropdown
b) If you'd like to limit the rule to certain channels, e.g. you may not want the rule to apply to your Box Office channel, add an Only If condition below and select either:
- Bookings made on channels
- Bookings not made on channels
c) Select the channel(s) from the dropdown
d) Click Save Validation Rule
