When you create an event on Line-Up you will be asked to set a capacity - this is the maximum number of tickets you want to sell for your event. You can edit and update the capacity, increasing it or decreasing it as required, at any point. See below the tutorial video for more detail on how capacity works.
Setting a capacity
The capacity can be set as part of creating your event and can be updated at any point via the performance management page.
Simply select the event from the event list and go to the Performance & Tickets tab. Choose the performance from that list and click into it. At the top of the next page, you will see the performance details, including the capacity that is currently set. Click the "Edit" button next to it to open the pop-up and you will then be able to update the capacity amount. When you have finished changing the capacity, click the submit button to make that change.
Capacity and ticket sales
Setting a capacity means that regardless of the ticket inventory you make available across the various ticket types that you create, you will never be able to sell more tickets than your capacity.
For example, let's imagine that you create an event performance that has a capacity of 100 and create the following ticket types:
- Adult
- Child
In this situation, you're very unlikely to want to make available 50 Adult tickets and 50 Child tickets to get to your capacity of 100. Instead, you're more likely to want to be able to sell up to 100 Adult tickets and up to 100 child tickets, dependent on the make up of your ticket buyers. Setting the capacity enables you to do this. Having set a capacity for a performance, when you create your ticket types, you can make as many tickets of this type available as you wish, safe in the knowledge that however many ticket types you create, you'll never be able to sell more than your capacity.
Capacity Lock
Line-Up also enables you to keep a constant reserve of a certain ticket type. This is what we refer to as Capacity Locked tickets. Read more about Capacity Lock here.
